Quick summary of the past month
Hey guys, its been a while since i´ve last written and i apologise profundly for that. augusto and me have been hiking and hitching through quite isolated areas with no access to internet whatsoever...but here are a few pictures of our past 4 weeks of travelling the mid-west of argentina. stories will follow as loading the pics takes half an eternity...
Chos Malal
one of those sunsets
passing time on the side of the road with back exercises
crossing the border into chile from zapala to extend my visa
...as you can see the temperatures have changed and here in zapala was our longest wait for a lift - 5 hours with a wind similar to a hurricane - until we were lucky and juan picked us up to bring us to a place called...
Allumine
the casa of claudio (friend of juan´s) where we spent a few beautiful days in the mountains
...the painter at work once again
an evening by the fire with Juan and claudio
Villa Pehuenia
after spending a few days with claudio and juan we went further west, to an area not visited by many tourists and with an amazing landscape. having arrived in V.P. we decided to stay in the cabaña of a friend of Claudio´s - what a luxury:
... hiking up to the border with chile
and up and up we went - until finally we were on top of an old volcano from where you had an amazing view around
... after 3 days in the cabaña we were back camping - luckily with beautiful weather untypical for this time of the year
the professional asador - ´argentinian barbecuer´
hiking 20km from villa pehuenia to moquehue where we are at the moment. in the middle we decided to camp on the shores of a lake and received a few visitors in the morning
the daily chore of making a fire to warm ourselves and make coffee
araucarias - ´monkey puzzle trees´ - which are typical for the region and at this time of the year grow delicious pine nuts which we collected and roasted in the fire - what a treat
... by now temperatures at night have dropped below zero - hence the wrapped up augusto ;o)
trying a bit of ´professional´ - fishing
and with success - a wild salmon - which we devoured greedily with 2 guys on whose grounds we are camping at the moment - gonzalo y carlos
...it doesnt look yummy but it was the most delicious meal ever!!!
