New team member and toc tocs
So, here we are spending another day in civilisation, the charming town of Cafayate to be exact. The plan was to just stay one day to chill out a bit and give the horses some rest but then the problem with Arty came up. Since we had decided not to continue the trip with her, Yayo suggested another mule for us and came over with the trailer and an entourage of 4 gauchos (who we knew from Finca Vinaco) yesterday.... its funny to think that it took us 15 days to get here and they did the journey in 2 hours by car. ;o) anyway, they arrived with a new mule: she´s only 6 years old and slightly hyper, but alot stronger than Arty. We loaded Arty onto the trailer, the new mula into the paddock and off we went into town for some cerveza...it was great to see the guys again and especially Yayo. He has just been an incredible help all along the way and now once more showed how much he wants this cabalgata to be a success. Saying good-bye wasn´t easy and los tres decided to stay in town for another few drinks to dwell on the emotional tumult inside...a good idea really, but unfortunately, we hadnt eaten much, downed 3 tequila/vodkas and when the waiter made us try a ´toc-toc´ (a shot with sprite and vodka) the evening was over for caro. a torrential rain had started outside and she was walking in the street with water up to her ankles trying to sober up. by 1 am the rain had quietened down and we decided to walk ´home´, back to our tents, only to find mine refunctioned into a swimming pool. anyway, we all had a good night´s sleep and today was a very welcome day of rest to cure our hangovers...caro hasn´t moved more than 20m away from the tents, philippe and me went into town to look for a new tent for me, we had a hangover lunch, a siesta in the city park and are now on our final mission to pick up our freshly washed clothes (yippieh!), buy some food for the next few days and then get ready for an early departure tomorrow morning with our new mula.
i hope all is well up north and we´re sending besos and abrazos to everyone!!
